Signed and Dated French Painting, Oil on Canvas
Found in the South of France, this is a large signed and dated painting depicting a cowboy and horses in the Camargue. The Camargue is a region of the Rhône delta in south-eastern France. The region is known for its horses, bulls, salt and rice. Camargue horses are ridden by ” the gardians “(cowboys), who rear the region’s cattle for fighting bulls for export to Spain. The painting is signed and dated and seems to read Simon Garnier ’37. A wonderful painting for the equestrian or francophile.
