Rare Cast Iron Pig-Form Mold
Found in France, a rare cast iron mold in the shape of a pig. The original baked-on white enamel finish is almost completely gone from the exterior surface but is largely intact inside. The two halves were originally held together by large bolts with wing nuts; only the back one remains. Two protrusions on the pig’s back act as levelers when the mold is set upside down. Molded into one side are the name of the maker, ‘Alexandre, and its place of origin, ‘Paris’, while the other side reads ‘Modele Depose’, showing it to be registered or patented. A fascinating find for the collector or an standout addition to any kitchen space.
